’Burg woman charged with assault

Punching her partner about 20 times in the face has led to assault charges against a Wallaceburg woman, according to Chatham-Kent police.

On Saturday, police were called to Dauw Avenue in Wallaceburg. Officers learned the man and the woman were verbally arguing when the woman struck the victim in the face approximately 20 times with a closed fist, police say, causing an injury to his lip.

A 20-year-old Wallaceburg woman was later located, arrested and charged with one count of assault.

Attempted strangulation

The anger continued on Sunday, this time in Wheatley.

At about 2:40 p.m., police were called to an address on Erie Street North in Wheatley for an assault investigation.

Prior to arrival, police were advised the male attempted to strangle the victim around their neck, leaving red markings.

Through further investigation, police say they learned the accused was responsible for assaulting and threatening the victim.

A 51-year-old Wheatley man was charged with one count of uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm and one count of assault.

Neighbour freaks out, charged

A Chatham man faces charges after someone threatened to run over children on Saturday.

Police say the incident took place Saturday about 11 a.m. when a man went to his neighbour’s residence in regard to a parking dispute.

Police say the man was irate began yelling profanities at the victim and making demands a vehicle be moved.

He then said he would run over the victim’s children if he found them playing in the street, police say.

The suspect, a 53-year-old Chatham man, was located and arrested for uttering threats to kill.
