PAWR – closed but open

Pet and Wildlife Rescue (PAWR) officials say the shelter remains closed to the general public during the COVID-19 pandemic, but staff are working and respecting the self-distancing requirements.

PAWR has implemented a platform, that can be found at www.pawr.org, where people can still adopt a cat online. A “curbside adoption pickup” would be scheduled to minimize interactions with the public, while still allowing animals to find their forever homes.

Municipal dog tags can be purchased over the phone with a credit card by calling 519-360-1998.

PAWR’s website now allows pet owners to purchase tags from the comfort of their home. Once the transaction is completed, all purchased tags will be mailed out.

Animal control staff remind everyone that the municipality’s renewal deadline for dog tags has been extended to June 30. If your dog has never had a Chatham-Kent tag, this deadline does not apply to you and a tag must be purchased immediately to avoid a monetary fine.

Although the doors are locked at the shelter, strays and surrenders are still being accepted through means of appointment. Call 226-996-9969 during business hours if you must bring in an animal.
