Domestic violence in Ridgetown

A Windsor man faces charges after someone was assaulted in Ridgetown Wednesday evening.

At 6:11 p.m., Chatham-Kent police were called to a George Street address. Upon arrival, officers learned the man was visiting the victim. The two had argued, and then it got physical. Police say the man assaulted and threatened the victim. The man also broke a television in the home.

Officers located the man a short distance away and arrested him.

A 47-year-old Windsor man is charged with assault, uttering threats, and mischief.

Asleep at the wheel

A Walpole Island man faces impaired driving charges after a driver was discovered Wednesday night slumped over the steering wheel of a running vehicle in Wallaceburg.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m., police were called to the parking lot of Syneview Motel.

Officers believed the man was under the influence of an intoxicating substance and arrested him for impaired driving.

The man was found with suspected fentanyl and a switchblade knife.

Upon further investigation, the officer discovered the man was prohibited from possessing a weapon.

A 36-year-old Walpole Island man was charged with impaired driving, operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a controlled substance and two counts of failing to comply with a prohibition order.

Threats

He avoided police for three weeks, but a man wanted in connection to a threats investigation will now have to answer to charges.

On Dec. 6, police began investigating a disturbance call on Sarah Crescent in Chatham.

Through investigation, officers formed grounds to arrest the man for uttering threats. A warrant was issued for his arrest when the man could not be located.

On Wednesday, police learned he was at an address on Sarah Crescent. Officers showed up, located and arrested the man.

A 40-year-old Chatham-Kent man is charged with uttering threats.

B&E charges

An afternoon stroll led to a Chatham man getting arrested on Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly before 5 p.m., officers observed a man walking on Murray Street in Chatham. The officers confirmed the man was wanted on two outstanding warrants.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters.

A 53-year-old Chatham man was charged with break-and-enter, theft over $5,000 and theft under $5,000. He was held pending a bail hearing.

Skipped court date on funny money charges

Police arrested a local man on Wednesday who did not appear in court at the appointed time to answer to charges of using counterfeit cash.

Back in February, police responded to Dominos in Wallaceburg for a counterfeit money investigation.

Police say man used counterfeit money twice to make purchases at the restaurant. The transaction was captured by video surveillance, and a local bank confirmed the money was counterfeit.

The officer located and arrested the man. He was released with conditions and a court date. When the man failed to make his court appearance, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Wednesday morning, an officer spotted the man on King Street in Wallaceburg.

A 36-year-old Chatham-Kent man currently faces the following charges: two counts of possessing counterfeit money and two counts of uttering counterfeit money. He was released with a new court date.

Missed court date

A Thursday, shortly before 2 a.m., police were called to the Via Rail station in Chatham for a man found in the bathroom.

Police arrived, learned the man’s identity and realized he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court concerning an April assault investigation in Dresden.

A 47-year-old Chatham-Kent man currently faces the following charges: assault with a weapon and two counts of uttering threats.
