Crash sends three to hospital

Last night, shortly after 6 p.m. emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision on Wheatley Road near Goodreau Line.

Preliminary investigation by Chatham-Kent police has revealed that a woman was driving westbound on Goodreau Line and upon entering the intersection was struck by a man driving southbound on Wheatley Road.

The 36-year-old woman driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. She was transferred to Windsor for further medical attention.

Her passenger, a 34-year-old man, along with the other driver, a 41-year-old man, were both transported to hospital as a precaution.

Total damage has been estimated at $30,000.

COVID violation charges

Around 8:30 p.m. last night, police responded to the report of social gathering at a residence in Chatham.

A 22-year-old Chatham woman was charged with failing to comply with a continued section 7.0.2 order, contrary to section 10(1)(a) of the Reopening Ontario Act and issued an $880 ticket.

Those who did not live in the residence were asked to leave.

Fail to comply, fail to comply

In early November, a youth was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was not to attend a specific cottage in Shrewsbury.

Yesterday morning, the youth left home and was observed at the cottage in Shrewsbury.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested and charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling and failing to comply with his release conditions. He was released pending a future court date and with an additional condition not to return to Shrewsbury.

Within three hours of being released, the youth made his way back to Shrewsbury by hitch hiking. The youth was arrested again and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Collision leads to impaired charge

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a collision on Colborne Street in Chatham.

Upon police arrival, officers learned that the man lost control of his vehicle and struck a hydro pole along with two unoccupied parked vehicles. Total damage was estimated at $20,000.

Through investigation, police believed the man was driving while under the influence of a drug. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters where a Drug Recognition Expert conducted an evaluation. As a result, the DRE officer believed the man was impaired by a drug.

A 25-year-old Howard Township man is charged with impaired driving. He was released pending a future court date.

Tools stolen

Sometime over the past couple days, someone entered an unlocked garage on West Street and stole various items:

– Hitachi 12” green miter saw

– DeWalt drywall guns x2

– DeWalt sawzall

– Black and Decker commercial drill

– Makita heavy-duty drill

– Bostitch nailer

– Bostitch stapler

– MasterCraft air nailer

– Electric grinder

– Schwinn women’s grey bicycle

B&E in Wallaceburg

Just before 6 a.m. this morning, police responded to a break and enter at SaveMax on James Street.

Through investigation, police learned that someone smashed a window and entered the business.

Police are working with the storeowner to determine what, if anything, was stolen.

Warrants

Yesterday afternoon, a man wanted for failing to attend court following a criminal harassment investigation attended police headquarters and turned himself in. A 38-year-old Dresden man was arrested.

Yesterday afternoon, Lambton OPP located a man who was wanted for failing to attend court to provide a DNA sample.

A 25-year-old Sarnia man was transported back to Chatham-Kent and charged with failing to comply with a Court Order. The DNA Order was completed and the man was released pending a future court date.
