Editor: In a recent column, Bruce Corcoran bemoaned the lack of a faster north-south route through Chatham, commenting that it can take an extra five minutes plus to drive north-south compared to east-west, arguing this increases the frustration of impatient drivers.
Really? Five minutes? Ten minutes?
Impatient drivers are the same everywhere in the U.S. and Canada, especially in larger towns and cities. Having been an over-the-road trucker most of my life, travelling through 48 states and Canada many times, some two and a half million miles, I speak with much experience.
Chatham is no exception; we have our share of bad, ill-tempered drivers. Is it such an egregious violation of their driving “ethic” to obey a stop sign or town speed limits?
To many, a stop sign is merely a suggestion; some barely slow down. Perhaps they’re from Montreal, Toronto, or L.A?
