Editor: I am writing about the perils of young children riding battery operated motorized skate boards, scooters, etc.
I witness all too many young kids driving down city streets with no regards to any form of safety. There are provincial laws in regards to this exact subject but there is no education of the public.
I would like the municipality to take the initiative to put on a public education campaign to educate parents of the dangers and possible legal obligations.

According to Chatham-Kents own bylaws, these stand on scooters are only allowed on private property! This gives our police the right to post this bylaw and enforce it. Parents allowing children to fly down streets and sidewalks with no concept of rules of road is a setting for disaster. Most hospitals are counting more and more injuries in our local ER’s.
