A mechanical issue has led to the closure of the Lord Selkirk Bridge in Wallaceburg until further notice.
Municipal officials said the bridge is closed to vehicular traffic, but pedestrians can still utilize the span.
As well, the bridge can’t be opened to allow the passage large boats.
Municipal officials said staff are working to address the mechanical issue.
“At this time, a timeline for reopening the bridge has not been determined. Further information will be provided as it becomes available,” the municipality said in a press release.
Motorists are asked to follow the posted detour route using Base Line Road, Old Glass Road, Mason Street and Arnold Street and to allow additional travel time when moving through the area.
