LETTER: Think bigger for arena

Editor: Yes, the idea of an arena in Chatham-Kent makes great sense for the future. But it has to be a fairly large venue. At least an arena that can accommodate a large concert of 15,000 to 20,000 people.

Why so big? Well, this is so that in 10 to 20 years you do not have to build another one.

It’s pretty hard to see so many people going to different cities for events and entertainment. Why not have them come to Chatham-Kent to spend their money? By having a larger arena, the prospects of an NHL team are very realistic.

There are lots of people west of Toronto, plus a train system and highways. Having a GO train system to London and Windsor, plus being near the 401 with good access right now and lots of vacant land can provide parking for buses and vehicles and an arena/coliseum.

The idea is brilliant, but don’t think small. As people say: small town, small minds.

It must be built on the outskirts of the existing city and the idea would have lots of private partners ready to get going.

Build it and they will come.
