B&E, assault

A Windsor woman faces charges after someone broke into a Wallaceburg residence Monday afternoon and assaulted another person, police say.

Chatham-Kent police officers were called to a break and enter in progress on Hilda Avenue shortly before 12:40 p.m.

The officers pieced together the facts. A woman got in through a basement window, and then assaulted another woman, who suffered minor injuries.

A 36-year-old Windsor woman is charged with break and enter and assault.

Caught in the act

A woman faces break and enter charges after police say officers caught her red handed.

Police got word of a break in on Elizabeth Street in Chatham shortly before 10 p.m. Friday night. The homeowner had come home and realized that someone was inside.

Officers showed up and found a woman inside the home. What’s more, police say she was found with some of the property owner’s belongings in her possession.

A 22-year-old woman is charged with break and enter with intent.

Blenheim B&E

In another case of being caught in the act, police say officers arrested a man inside a home in Blenheim Sunday night.

Police were called to a Sherman Street residence shortly after 11 p.m. over a break in.

Officers found a man inside the residence and learned he had been told to not return to the home, yet police say he did.

A 32-year-old man is charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling.

Wrong place, wrong company

A Chatham man and woman are up on charges after police say they didn’t comply with court-imposed conditions recently.

Police were called about 10:20 p.m. Friday over a report of a disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Officers learned a man and woman, both bound by conditions to not associate with one another, were in the residence together.

As a result, a 31-year-old Chatham man is charged with two counts of failing to comply.

A 23-year-old Chatham woman is also charged with failing to comply.

Wrong place, part two

A Chatham man is up on charges after police say officers found him in a place that he was told by the courts to not visit.

On Sunday afternoon, police were called to a residence in Chatham for an intimate partner violence complaint.

Investigations revealed that a man, who was bound by court-imposed conditions not to contact the occupant or attend the residence, was inside the home.

Officers attended and located the individual hiding inside a closet.

A 38-year old Chatham man faces two counts of failing to comply.

Saturday’s not all right for fighting

A local man faces charges after allegedly smacking another fellow Saturday afternoon.

Police got the call about 4:45 p.m. Saturday to attend a residence on Sheldon Avenue in Chatham.

Officers learned that two men were arguing when one punched the other in the face several times.

The victim, a 63-year-old Chatham man, suffered injuries, but refused medical attention.

A 45-year-old man is charged with assault.

Impaired charge

A Merlin woman faces impaired driving charges after a fender bender on Saturday evening on McNaughton Avenue in Chatham.

One vehicle rear-ended another while the lead vehicle had slowed to make a turn, police say.

And during the investigation, officers observed signs of impairment from the accused, and she was arrested.

A 28-year-old Merlin woman is charged with impaired driving.

He wasn’t banking on that

Being asked to leave a bank on Monday did not sit well with a local man…to the point police say he threatened to harm someone.

The incident took place shortly before 11 a.m. Monday at the Bank of Montreal on Lacroix Street. Police say a man entered the bank and was asked to leave by the staff. Another man also asked him to leave.

At that point, police say the man became confrontational and threatened to harm the person who asked him to leave.

Police found the man on Wellington Street and made their arrest.

A 39-year-old Chatham man is charged with uttering threats.

Crash on St. Clair St.

No one was hurt Monday evening in a collision on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Police learned that the mishap occurred when one driver failed to stop at a red light, resulting in a collision with another vehicle.

“Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were deemed not drivable,” police said in a media release.

A 35-year-old man is charged with failing to stop at a red light.

As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old male driver from Chatham was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for failing to stop at a red light.
