Friday Chatham-Kent police briefs

He just wouldn’t leave

A Tilbury man faces charges after someone wouldn’t leave a local business Thursday.

It turns out, police were called to the same business multiple times over a 12-hour period, and finally, just after 8 a.m. Thursday, they arrested a man.

Police say the suspect had been previously trespassed from the property after repeatedly causing disturbances.

A 40-year-old Tilbury man is charged with causing a disturbance.

Fake ID, theft

Despite his best attempts to thwart police, a man faces multiple charges.

On Thursday afternoon, officers were called to a Park Street business over a theft.

During the investigation, officers determined the man was wanted in connection with previously reported thefts from vehicles in Chatham‑Kent, police say.

The officers located the suspect while on patrol and confirmed he was wanted on warrants.

The male also provided false identification to officers, police say.

As a result, a 29-year-old Chatham-Kent man is charged with obstructing a police officer, two counts of possession of stolen property and four of mis-using identity documents.

Outburst + damage = arrest

An early morning rampage by a man has led to charges.

Officers responded about 3:30 a.m. Thursday to a report of a disturbance at a business on Grand Avenue in Chatham.

Officers arrived on scene and spotted damage to a window, which left the property in an insecure state.

They also learned someone had been yelling, damaging property and making threats to the public.

The officers found their suspect a short distance away and police say he admitted to causing the damage.

A 27-year-old Chatham man is charged with mischief.
