B&E arrests

Chatham-Kent police have made more arrests in connection to an early September break in at a business in Ridgetown.

The crime took place on Sept. 11 at a Main Street West business just before 5:30 a.m. someone backed a pickup truck into the storefront windows, doing an estimated $60,000 damage in the process.

Two people were seen leaving the vehicle and entering the business to steal about $10,000 in merchandise before they fled in the truck.

Less than 90 minutes after the crime, police had found the vehicle used in the theft, which led officers to a residence in Chatham.

That night, police raided the home, seizing several stolen items and arresting one man, a 50-year-old Chatham man. He was charged with possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.

The investigation, however, continued. Police have since arrested three more people in connection with the September break in.

A Windsor man, 41, is charged with possession of stolen property and break and enter.

A Leamington man, 42, faces charges of break and enter, possession of stolen property and failing to comply.

And a 43-year-old Chatham woman is charged with possession of stolen property.
