Friday night did not end well for a Leamington man.
Police say he’s facing charges of resisting arrest and failing to comply after suffering a medical emergency Friday night in Wallaceburg.
Emergency services personnel were called to a Murray Street residence July 18 at about 11 p.m. due to a medical emergency. Officers attended with paramedics, and learned the man had outstanding warrants against him, including for a June 27 theft from a Chatham store.
Officers attended Friday night, located the man and confirmed that there were outstanding warrants for him.
When the cops told him he was being arrested, police say the man refused to comply with police instructions. Despite repeated demands to drop an uncapped needle he was holding, he initially refused, leading to a physical altercation, police say.
Officers ultimately subdued him after he complied and dropped the needle.
A 42-year-old Leamington man is charged with resisting arrest and failing to comply, as well as theft possession of stolen property and assault charges from other investigations.
