A Monday evening fire at a Grand Avenue residence in Chatham is under investigation.
Chatham-Kent Fire & Rescue were called about 8 p.m. to 404 Grand Avenue East, a multi-unit residential dwelling.
When crews arrived, they were greeted by “heavy flames” coming from the residence, fire officials said.
Firefighters from both Chatham stations worked to quickly extinguish the fire, but not before it did an estimated $200,000 in damage to the building.
The Office of the Fire Marshall has been called in to investigate.
