Pre-schoolers in Chatham-Kent are being invited to take part in KinderSTARt activities during the month of January.

Put on by the St. Clair Catholic District School Board, the interactive event is aimed at welcoming children and their families to kindergarten, showcasing what local Catholic schools have to offer.

Director of education Scott Johnson said the program allows youngsters to become familiar with their new school. Future students can meet staff and parents can connect with community partners.

“KinderSTARt is an exciting way for children to meet their teachers, explore their school and feel ready for this new adventure,” said Johnson in a media release. “We can’t wait to welcome our future kindergarten students and share in their excitement.”

In Chatham-Kent, the first session will be held Jan. 14 at Christ the King School in Wallaceburg. On Jan. 15, sessions will be held at St. Anne School in Blenheim and St. Elizabeth School in Wallaceburg.

KinderSTARt will be held at St. Angela Merici School in Chatham and St. Joseph School in Tilbury on Jan. 16 and at St. Teresa of Calcutta in Chatham, as well as Good Shepherd School in Thamesville Jan. 21.

On Jan. 22, a session will be held at Holy Family School in Wallaceburg. The last event will take place Jan. 23 at St. Michael’s School in Ridgetown.

Spaces for the event are limited so pre-registration is recommended and can be completed on the board’s website. Each session runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
