A Wednesday afternoon traffic stop has led to the seizure of two handguns and more than $13,000 in illegal drugs, as well as numerous charges against the driver.
According to Chatham-Kent police, officers pulled over a black Volkswagen Tiguan shortly before 1:30 p.m. The stop, police say, was a planned one, stemming from an ongoing drug investigation.
As the officers executed a drug warrant, police say they discovered a loaded .40-cal. Glock handgun, 129 grams of cocaine, six tablets of oxycodone, and digital scales.
About 30 minutes after pulling over the vehicle, police also searched the suspect’s residence on Pearl Crescent in Chatham. Found was a .22-cal revolver, also loaded; eight grams of meth; a trace amount of fentanyl; 1.4 grams of cocaine; 15 codeine tablets; 26 clonazepam tablets; 47 hits of acid (LSD); debt lists; and numerous rounds of ammunition.
A 42-year-old Chatham man faces one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking and five counts of possession.
