Fraud charges

Chatham-Kent police believe they have their suspect in connection to a string of purchases made recently in Wallaceburg with stolen credit cards.

On June 5 and 6, police responded to two separate thefts from vehicle investigations in Wallaceburg. 

Through investigation, police learned the victims’ wallets were stolen from their vehicles.

The stolen debit cards were used at several stores in Wallaceburg.

Through surveillance footage, police, say officers identified the same man involved in both incidents.

A warrant was issued for his arrest when he could not be located.

On Wednesday, police located their suspect and he was arrested.

He was charged with two counts of possession of stolen property and three counts of fraud. 

London man charged in gas ’n’ dash

It took four months, but Chatham-Kent police believe they’ve got their man in connection with a gas theft in February.

On Feb. 15, police began investigating a gas theft from a business on Bloomfield Road in Chatham. 

Through investigation, the man was identified. A warrant was issued for his arrest when he could not be located.

On Wednesday, the Strathroy-Carodoc Police Service advised they had the man in custody. 

A 52-year-old London man was charged with theft.

Bail violations 

A Chatham man faces additional charges after police say he was not complying with his release conditions.

Police responded to an address on Michener Road in Chatham about 6:45 a.m. this morning for a theft investigation.

While investigating, officers learned the man was on two release orders with a curfew condition. Police confirmed the man violated this condition, and he was arrested.

A 39-year-old Chatham man was charged with two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing. 

Man, woman nabbed on outstanding warrants

Chatham-Kent police got two for the price of one on King Street in Highgate on Wednesday.

Shortly before 2 p.m., police located a man and woman on King Street in Highgate. 

Police confirmed they were both wanted on outstanding warrants, and they were arrested.

A 42-year-old Highgate man was arrested and charged with break and enter related to a March 17 investigation. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing. 

A 40-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a release order and failing to attend court.
