C-K’s COVID numbers drop by one

Amid massive spikes in COVID-19 numbers in recent days, CK Public Health reported Wednesday morning our active case count actually dipped by one to 287.

This after 18 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours, against 19 deemed resolved.

We are down to five areas of outbreak, including three elementary schools, which are still on holiday break.

Riverview Gardens remains in outbreak, with two cases lingering there. A manufacturing facility in Chatham-Kent, first reported in outbreak Dec. 2, is still an area of outbreak, with 18 cases tied to it to date.

Provincial Public Health figures indicate 10,436 new COVID cases in Ontario on Wednesday.

In terms of the vaccination effort, CK Public health reported 85.5 per cent of people 18-plus as being double vaccinated. For 12 and over, that figure is 84.4 per cent.

In comparison, provincial figures for double vaccinations in those aged 12-plus is 88.1 per cent.
