Long list of domestic-related charges

Last night, Chatham-Kent police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned a man assaulted a woman on multiple occasions, damaged her laptop and forcibly confined her inside his residence for several days.

Another resident in the home last night, heard the commotion and called police.

A 34-year-old Chatham man is charged with three counts of assault, two counts of assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement and mischief.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Stolen vehicle recovered, arrests made

Yesterday morning, sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. someone stole a 2002 white GMC Envoy from the area of King Street West near Sixth Street in Chatham.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m., officers located the vehicle travelling on Tecumseh Line. A traffic stop was initiated and officers arrested both people inside the vehicle.

The driver, a 27-year-old Chatham woman, is charged with theft, possession of stolen property and drug possession.

A 35-year-old passenger is charged with drug possession.

B&E in Wallaceburg

Around 8 p.m. last night, officers responded to an alarm at The Gear Box on James Street.

Upon police arrival, officers observed that the glass in the front door had been smashed and that four guitars had been stolen.

Through investigation, two of the stolen guitars were located in the common area of a nearby house where multiple residents live.

But police continue to look for the remaining two stolen guitars, both Gibson Les Pauls. One is a Les Paul Modern with a glass black finish. The other is a Slash Les Paul with the “appetite burst” finish.

 

Curfew breach

In late August, the man was released from court with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to obey a daily curfew of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Around 1:30 a.m. this morning, officers located the man hiding inside the bathroom of a business on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.
A 38-year-old Sarnia man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

School bus collision

Yesterday morning, just before 9 a.m., police responded to a two-vehicle collision, involving a school bus on Braemar Boulevard near Indian Creek Road West in Chatham.

No children on the bus were injured.

Total damage was estimated at $5,000.

The collision remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Const. Bryan Vaughan at bryanv@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600 ext. 87164.

Stolen vehicle

Yesterday morning around 7 a.m., someone stole a 2015 white Hyundai Elantra that was left running in a driveway on Gillard Street.

The car was last seen with Ontario license plates BYER 585.

While it’s tempting this time of year to start your vehicle and leave it running to warm up, it’s also an open invitation for thieves looking to drive away with your car, police say.
