COVID-19 has claimed another life in Chatham-Kent.

The death was reported Thursday by public health but due to privacy reasons the age and gender of the patient was not revealed. However officials report the person was not vaccinated.

Locally, a total of 18 people have died from the virus over the course of the pandemic with the last death occurring in June. That patient was a woman in her 60s.

There are currently 13 people being treated for COVID-19 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Four of those are on ventilators in the ICU. Only 2 of the 13 being treated in hospital are fully vaccinated.

Eight CKHA staff are presently off, either having contracted COVID-19, or were potentially exposed to the virus.

Chatham-Kent Public Health recorded another 17 cases in the past 24 hours bringing current total to 112, with 12 cases being resolved.
