Chatham-Kent police say an officer spotted the Jimmy driving on Forhan Street in Wallaceburg, did a query on the plates and learned they were for the Canyon.
Police say the officer pulled the SUV over, investigated and learned the driver was under suspension.
A 31-year-old Walpole Island man is charged with driving while under suspension, using plates not authorized for the vehicle and failing to provide an insurance card.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
