Veritas Farm Management Inc. in Chatham was presented with the Regional Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence recently.
Veritas is being hailed as a Canadian leader in the analysis of precision agriculture data.
“Agricultural knowledge is a constantly evolving area of expertise and while farmers need to have a trusting relationship with their input suppliers, that trust needs to be verified so that everyone is able to keep moving forward. When it comes to agronomics, the industry often focuses on yield improvements but ultimately, it is the economics that need to be considered and measured to ensure that farming remains sustainable. The next evolution of this work will focus on understanding and measuring how the interactions of multiple production variables create a cumulative profitability increase” said Aaron Breimer, Business Manager of Veritas Farm Management Inc.
The Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence recognizes the innovative contributions of producers, processors, agri-food organizations and rural communities in Ontario. Their innovations improve existing products, create new jobs and grow Ontario’s economy. In 2017, 50 award recipients were recognized, including the top Premier’s Award, Minister’s Award, and three Leaders in Innovation award winners.
“The agriculture industry is buzzing about the potential of ‘Big Data’ and what it could mean for farmers and the industry in general while this concept is an example of ‘Deep Data’ that recognizes the uniqueness of each farm and field and looks to identify profitable production opportunities,” explained Paul Hazzard, General Manager of South West Ag Partners Inc.
Veritas Farm Management is a comprehensive farm management service that offers precision ag and farm business solutions to progressive farm and retail customers in southwestern Ontario. Veritas Farm Management is a wholly owned subsidiary of South West Ag Partners Inc. of Chatham.
