Tuesday turned out to be a busy day for the Chatham-Kent Police Service, as officers arrested 11 people, seven of whom had outstanding warrants.

Included in that list was a man on the service’s wanted list. Police say the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for theft, possession of stolen property and failing to comply.

Officers found the man on Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg yesterday about 5:30 p.m. The 30-year-old ’Burg man has a court date in mid-July.

A beat down on Grant Street in Chatham last night left a 22-year-old woman with serious injuries. Police say the incident took place about 10:30 p.m., and the victim had to be taken to hospital for treatment.

A short time later, officers arrested the person they believe is responsible. An 18-year-old Chatham woman is charged with assault causing bodily harm.

C-K cops tracked down a man yesterday wanted by another police service, but got to add to the charges in the process.

Police say officers saw a man riding a bike down Sandys Street in Chatham yesterday afternoon, recognized him and knew he was wanted on an outstanding warrant by another police service.

The officers also saw him chatting on a cell phone, which police say is a violation of a release condition.

The cops stopped the man on Grand Avenue. Police say a search revealed he had methamphetamine and hash oil in his possession.

A 39-year-old Chatham man is charged with failing to comply, as well as two counts of drug possession.

A message to thieves: Drive-and-save events at car dealerships aren’t bike-up-and-steal events.

Police say just after 2:30 a.m., someone fired a rock through the glass door at Lally Kia on Richmond Street in Chatham.

When officers arrived, they saw a man on a bike pedalling off. They stopped him and found him to be toting a laptop computer, which belonged to the dealership, police say.

A 45-year-old Raleigh Township man is charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property.

It marked the second time in less than a week that someone broke the glass door at the dealership with a rock. About 4:30 a.m. on June 19, a rock shattered that window and went through the window of a vehicle in the showroom.

In the middle of the night on June 8, two youths forced their way into the post office in Bothwell, stealing several sets of commemorative coins, as well as office supplies, all valued at about $1,200.

But the youths weren’t done with their crime spree, as the two broke into a nearby business and took a laptop, cash and various items, all valued at about $1,800.

Police investigated and identified their suspects, quickly recovering about $2,700 of the stolen property.

On Tuesday afternoon, one of the youths turned himself in at police headquarters. The 16-year-old boy is charged with two counts each of break and enter and possession of property obtained by crime.

Police continue to look for the second suspect.
