The History will be Made event raised $14,500 for Noelle’s Gift to Children, and it has set the stage for future events.
What started as a hopeful idea rooted in agriculture, generosity, and community connection has delivered meaningful results for local children, organizers said, adding it is just the beginning.
History will be Made is a unique, local dining and fundraising effort that was held recently at the Chatham Armoury. It brought together 150 guests to what is hoped will be the world’s largest dining table.
“This was never just about one night,” said organizer Brad Campbell, local farmer and community advocate, in a media release. “It was about planting a seed – bringing people together around shared values and creating something that continues to grow. Seeing the support for Noelle’s Gift, especially the Closet program, confirms how aligned this event is with the needs of our community.”
A key focus of the evening was raising awareness for Noelle’s Gift Closets, an in‑school support initiative that provides students with immediate access to essential items such as nutritious snacks, clothing, hygiene products, school supplies, and seasonal necessities.
Closets are discreetly located within schools and allow educators to respond quickly and compassionately when a child is in need – removing barriers, preserving dignity, and helping students focus on learning and success.
The event also showcased sustainable agriculture, micro‑farming ideas, and local food initiatives, reinforcing agriculture’s role as both a cultural and economic cornerstone of Chatham‑Kent.
