The staff and managers at Chatham-Kent Children’s Services joined together Wednesday to march to Grand Avenue West in front of the courthouse to celebrate National Child Day.
The day was set aside by the United Nations in 1989, a day when Canada promised children the right to be free of harm and to live and grow to their full potential, according to OPSEU Local 148 vice president Candice Copeland.
The march was also to protest the staffing cuts made recently to try and deal with the provincial funding deficit at CKCS, which Copeland said directly affects front-line services to this community’s most vulnerable children.
