In the middle of a Monday afternoon, police received a call about a possible impaired driver on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
The complainant said they saw a man “stumbling to and from a garbage bin placing several empty alcohol containers inside before returning to his vehicle in a parking lot,” police said. The suspect then proceeded to drive onto St. Clair Street.
Officers located the vehicle and conducted a roadside investigation.
The officers formed grounds to believe that the driver was impaired by drugs.
A 31-year-old Chatham-Kent man is charged with impaired driving.
