Man charged for assaulting his mom
A Chatham man faces charges after Chatham-Kent police allege he attacked his mother Saturday.
Police got the call about 11:30 p.m. to a residence on Queen Street in Chatham. Through investigation, it was revealed that the resident was concerned and fearful of her son after she said he assaulted her by grabbing her by the neck and causing injury.
As a result, police arrested a Chatham resident for assault causing bodily harm to his mother.
He was taken into custody and held pending a bail hearing.
Domestic violence in Wallaceburg
A man faces multiple charges after an argument with a woman turned violent recently.
At approximately 11:45 p.m. Friday evening, a man attended his ex-partner’s residence, intoxicated by alcohol, police say, and began to argue with her over access to their child.
The man became physical and the female was assaulted, as well as a third-party female who attempted to intervene was threatened and assaulted as well, police say.
Before officers arrived, the man fled the residence with the woman’s cellphone, police say.
Police located their suspect and he was charged with three counts of assault, theft, possession under $5,000, and uttering threats.
The man was taken into custody and held pending a bail hearing.
$6,000 in tools stolen in Merlin
Police are investigating a reported break-in in Merlin where $6,000 in tools and electronics were reportedly stolen.
The residents were not home at the time of this incident.
However, police say suspects were recorded on the home’s security cameras.

Truck stolen in Bothwell
Someone stole a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado truck, with a 2008 12-foot trailer attached to it from a residence in Bothwell recently.
On the morning of Nov. 3 at approximately 4:50 a.m., someone drove off with the truck and trailer.
The vehicle is described as a green two-ton pick-up truck with a 2008 wooden trailer attached to it, a jerry can of gas, and several tools in the trailer. The truck was last seen bearing Ontario license plate 2502 VC, and the trailer bearing Ontario license plate E2273N.

No surety? Problem
Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man after receiving information that he was not abiding by his bail conditions.
Officers located the Chatham resident in the area of Park Street in Chatham after he left his residence without his surety for a lengthy period.
Police advised him that he would be getting placed under arrest and the man became combative with police. Officers were able to gain control of the man and placed him under arrest.
The Chatham resident was taken into custody and has been held pending a bail hearing.
Collision leads to impaired charge
At approximately 1:30 p.m. Friday, police responded to a collision involving two vehicles on Creek Road.
Through investigation, the first officer on scene believed that one person was driving while under the influence of alcohol, and he was arrested. The man was transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.
A Chatham resident has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
All parties involved sustained minor injuries and did not need to be transported to the hospital.
