Nabbed at the border

Chatham-Kent police say a border stop in Sarnia has returned a wanted man to C-K.

At 3:36 p.m., the man attempted to cross the Blue Water Bridge into the U.S., police say, but was arrested by the Canadian Border Service Agency. Officers confirmed he was wanted by the Chatham-Kent Police Service in relation to an assault investigation and failing to attend court.

A 40-year-old Walpole Island man was transported to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

An argument got ugly Sunday night near Muirkirk, and one man faces charges as a result.

At 7:48 p.m., police responded to Muirkirk Line for an assault investigation.

Police learned that an argument between two men escalated when one assaulted the other.

A 49-year-old Muirkirk man was charged with assault.

95 km/h over the limit

A Tilbury East woman faces stunt-driving charges after someone got pulled over doing more than twice the speed limit early this morning on Merlin Road.

Chatham-Kent police report an officer clocked the vehicle doing 175 km/h on the 80-km/h road about 12:30 a.m. this morning.

A 30-year-old Tilbury East woman was charged with stunt driving. The vehicle was towed.

Knives out

A Windsor man faces charges following a takedown at C.M. Wilson Conservation Area on the weekend.

Only Saturday afternoon, Chatham-Kent police officers responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint at the conservation area.

Through information provided by a complainant, police determined prior to arrival that the vehicle had been reported stolen the previous day.

Officers proceeded to converge on the area and approached the subject vehicle, and upon doing so located a man sitting in the front seat of the vehicle who was arrested without incident.

Further investigation also revealed the man to be in possession of a stolen driver’s licence, along with several knives, which a previous release order condition prohibited him from possessing, police say.

A 34-year-old Windsor man is charged with possession of property obtained by crime and fail to comply with release order.
