A delegation of nine Chatham-Kent officials will be participating in the Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference Aug. 16-18.

Similar to last year, the 2021 event will be held virtually.

The conference features more than 40 sessions, and presenters include Premier Doug Ford, as well as other party leaders and ministers.

As part of the Western Ontario Wardens’ Caucus, local delegates will participate in discussions with cabinet ministers, discussing regional economic development issues, such as the enhancement of high-speed fibre networks.

Because he is part of the Ontario Big City Mayors’ contingent, Mayor Darrin Canniff will be meeting with Health Minister Christine Elliott and Associate Minister Michael Tibollo to discuss ways to improve mental health and addiction services.

Along with the mayor, councillors Karen Kirkwood-Whyte, Clare Latimer, Carmen McGregor and Marjorie Crew will participate, along with Chief Administrative Officer Don Shropshire, and general managers April Rietdyk, Cathy Hoffman and Gord Quinton.
