Drug charges

Around noon yesterday, Chatham-Kent police located a man on Keil Drive in Chatham who was wanted on a surety relief warrant.

The man was arrested and upon being searched, was found to be in possession of suspected cocaine and fentanyl.

A 38-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to comply his release conditions and two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking. He was released pending a future court date, and transported to a local correctional facility as per the warrant.

Not your house, pal

Last night, around 8 p.m. police responded to the report of a suspicious man inside a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man entered a house on Tweedsmuir Avenue while the homeowner was in the backyard watering her flowers. Upon entering her home, the woman observed the man, and he fled out the front door.

Officers located the man and he was taken into custody.

A 25-year-old West Lorne man has been charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling house. He remains in police custody this morning.

Prohibited weapon

Last night, shortly after 11 p.m., police responded to the report of a suspicious woman on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

Officers located the woman and through investigation learned that she was wanted on outstanding warrants by another police service.

The woman was arrested, and upon being searched, was found to be in possession of a flick knife, regardless of being on conditions not to possess any weapons.

A 41-year-old woman, of no fixed address, has been charged with being in possession of a prohibited weapon, failing to comply with her release conditions and breach of probation. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Obstructing police

Early this morning, shortly after 3 a.m., an officer on general patrol observed a suspicious man in the area of Lacroix Street and Richmond Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, the man provided a false name to the officer, police say. The man was arrested for obstruct police as the officer learned the man’s true identity.

Upon being searched, the man was found to be in possession of suspected crystal methamphetamine.

A 43-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged with obstruct police and drug possession. He was released pending a future court date.

Motorcycle crash

Last night, shortly after 6 p.m., police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Campers Cove Road.

 

The driver, a 50-year-old Amherstburg woman, lost control of her motorcycle, left the roadway and struck a tree.

The woman was transported to a Windsor hospital for medical attention.

Total damage was estimated at $20,000.
