Chatham-Kent police are still investigating after a local man was killed by a VIA train last night in Chatham.
Shortly after 9 p.m. last night, police responded to a collision involving the VIA Rail passenger train and a pedestrian in the area of Bloomfield Road near Queens Line in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the train was travelling westbound from Toronto to Windsor, when a man lying in the middle of the rail crossing was struck.
The victim, a 38-year-old Chatham man, suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
No one on the train was physically injured.
