Teens threatened in park

Shortly after 9 p.m. last night, police responded to a weapons complaint in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that around 8 p.m. a man approached two teen boys, known to him, while at the park near Duke Street and Park Street. The man threatened the brothers along with another family member while in possession of a knife police say.

Officers located the man a short time later and he was arrested.

An 18-year-old Chatham man has been charged with being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions and three counts of uttering threats.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Dog stolen, man charged

Chatham-Kent police tracked down a man they say stole a dog from a woman Thursday afternoon.

Back on May 5, the man was released from court with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific Chatham woman or attend her residence.

Yesterday afternoon, the man attended the woman’s home and entered without permission, police say. The man took the woman’s dog and left. He was last seen walking along the Canadian Pacific train tracks.

Officers located the man a short time later in the area of Raleigh Street and Richmond Street still in possession of the dog.

A 37-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with break and enter, theft, possession of stolen property and two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was additionally charged with entering land on which a line work in situated, contrary to the Railway Safety Act.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The dog was returned to the woman.

Theft

Yesterday morning, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham.

Through investigation, police identified the man responsible and he was located a short time later on Orangewood Boulevard.

The man was taken into custody and upon being searched incident to arrest, was found to be in possession of the stolen property.

A 39-year-old Tilbury man is charged with theft under and being in possession of stolen property.
