The Thames Art Gallery (TAG) will present two new exhibitions, starting Aug. 30 and running to Oct. 20.

Featuring work by some of Ontario’s foremost potters and glass workers, Fireworks 2019 and Fuel celebrate some of the best artists working in these media today.

Opening reception is on Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. and many of the artists will be on hand. This event is free and open to all.

Fireworks 2019, a celebratory exhibition of handcrafted works in clay and glass, is organized by Fusion: The Ontario Clay and Glass Association.

Fireworks exhibitions are juried and assembled every two years before traveling across Ontario. The talent and creative spirit of Fusion members is well recognized and this exhibition features some of their finest efforts.

Formed as a complement to Fireworks, Fuel represents a group of five local potters whose work provides a substantial response to the vision and artistry on display in the gallery. Displaying finesse in both form and surface, it is a show not to miss.

Fusion president Chris Snedden will be attending the opening reception. For those unable to enroll in Snedden’s workshop on clay and slip decoration held earlier in the day, the opening will be a chance to meet him and enjoy the insights and perspectives of this respected Canadian potter.

The Galley is located at the Chatham Cultural Centre, 75 William St. N., Chatham.
