After nearly a month of fighting for her life, a fire victim died Oct. 2 from injuries she sustained in a structure fire on Park Street in Chatham Sept. 12.
Evelyn Peltier, 50, of Park Street was taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Sept. 12 and was later transferred to the burn unit at a Hamilton hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The Office of the Fire Marshall was called in to investigate the fire, with the help of the Chatham-Kent Police Services. The fire currently remains under investigation.
