Forget about the geese, what about cats and dogs?

Sir: I have been reading about the issue of the geese with interest. I can understand both sides of the issue. However, I do have a soft spot for the geese.

It was a lovely sight when I first came to Chatham area to see them in the river and on the banks while driving by.

Now I am wondering why so much attention is made to the geese droppings and even noise, and nothing is said about all the dogs that are using my grass for their toilet and even the bags people use are thrown into my flower beds.

And if that is not enough, there are at least five cats that come around at night and also use my garden for their toilet!

I am a lover of all animals and had my own when I was able to care for them. But I trained my cat to use her box in the garage and she never travelled to neighbours’ properties because I kept her indoors at night.

If new laws are to be made for other animals in the city, I would hope cats and dogs should be included. Is there not a special dog park in Chatham where dogs could be taken to run loose? Otherwise, fence a section of your own property to use as their toilet.
