Home Life Senior award nominations open

Senior award nominations open

June is Seniors’ Month, meaning it’s time celebrate older adults who contribute to the community.

To that end, the Municipality of Chatham-Kent is accepting nominations for the 2026 Senior of the Year award. The winner and others will be recognized at the Aging Well Conference set to take place at Hidden Hills Golf & Country Club Sept. 16.

According to a municipal media release, Mayor Darrin Canniff and council wish to thank older adults aged 60 and beyond for their volunteer efforts in building Chatham-Kent, marking significant milestones and achievements.

“We are asking for the public’s help,” the mayor said in the release. “Everyone knows someone who has made a difference – whether through a group or as an individual. This is your chance to tell us about that person so we can acknowledge their contributions.”

Dating back to the 1980s, the C-K senior awards are a long-standing tradition with more than 1,000 folks being recognized.

Nominations can be submitted on the Let’s Talk CK webpage until June 30. For people without a computer, call 519-360-1998 ext. 3001 for assistance. Nomination forms are also available at Chatham-Kent Municipal Centres located in Chatham, Blenheim, Dresden, Ridgetown, Tilbury and Wallaceburg, as well as all library branches.

An impartial panel has been selected to judge the entries. For more information, contact Chatham Coun. Alysson Storey, C-K chair of the Celebration of Older Adults, at 519-350-5689, or the mayor’s office at 519-360-1998 ext. 3001.

There is no admission fee for the Aging Well Conference.
