Kidnapping, sexual assault…

A Windsor man is facing a slew of charges in connection with a weekend incident in Chatham that saw part of Queens Line closed in the interest of public safety.

On Sunday, in the early afternoon, police asked residents in the area to shelter in place. They also closed a portion of Queens Line just west of Chatham due to the incident.

Police say a man, carrying a firearm, went into a home and forcibly removed an 18-year-old Chatham woman.

She was also sexually assaulted, police say.

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Windsor man faces charges of pointing a firearm, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, kidnapping, failing to comply with a release order, and two counts of sexual assault.

The investigation remains ongoing, police say.
