C-K cops seize 5.5 lbs. of fentanyl

A Thursday evening drug raid in Chatham paid dividends big time, as Chatham-Kent police seized nearly 2.5 kilograms of fentanyl.

Two Chatham residents face charges.

Officers raided the Webb Street home shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday. What they found in addition to the fentanyl was seven grams of cocaine, a loaded 9-mm handgun, digital scales, cell phones and a large quantity of cash.

Police say the total approximate street value of the controlled substances is estimated to be in excess of $498,000.

A 58-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man are charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, and careless storage of a firearm.
