No one was injured and officials continue to investigate an early morning house fire in Ridgetown.
Crews from Ridgetown and Orford responded to the 3:05 a.m. call and arrived to find flames and thick smoke spilling from the front of the home.
The fire was rapidly spreading throughout the building, according to fire officials, and crews began to protect neighbouring buildings.
One nearby home was evacuated as a precaution.
“ The fire was brought under control following an extended suppression effort,” officials said in a media release and the home suffered heavy damage, estimated at $500,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
