Catch the Ace continues after $9,600 start

Greg Spence, centre, caught the ace, for $9,600 during the inaugural Catch The Ace CK fundraising event for Habitat for Humanity and Chatham Sunrise Rotary.

Greg Spence caught the ace while Habitat for Humanity Chatham-Kent and the Rotary Club of Chatham Sunrise benefitted.

Spence, a Thamesville resident, won the inaugural Catch The Ace CK grand prize of $9,639 after his ticket was chosen and his card revealed as the Ace of Spades.

Spence had been playing the game weekly since it began and was also a weekly winner of $162 just five weeks prior.

Catch The Ace CK is a collaborative effort between Habitat C-K and Sunrise Rotary.

From each ticket sale, 50 per cent of the value was directed to the two non-profit’s charitable causes, 30 per cent went to the progressive jackpot, and 20 per cent went into the hands of the weekly prize winners.

During the 33-week run, $6,274 was paid out to weekly winners and $15,685 was raised for the local charitable causes of the lottery’s co-sponsors.

Catch The Ace CK is returning for a second, starting this week. Tickets will be available to purchase online starting Jan. 29 at www.catchtheaceck.ca.

“We’ve changed up the game rules this time around,” said Glenn Smith from the Rotary Club of Chatham Sunrise in a media release. “Tickets can now be purchased for as little as $5, making it easier to play every week.”

Tickets are also available at The Restore, 55 Junction Ave. in Chatham.
