Food and friendship in Blenheim

Homecare On Wheels Foundation volunteers dole out all the fixing at their fourth annual Christmas dinner event in Blenheim.

Designed to ensure no one feels alone during the holidays, 75 Blenheim-area residents enjoyed good food and company on Dec. 20.

Put on by the Homecare On Wheels Foundation GON, the meal took place at the Blenheim Royal Canadian Legion.

The not-for-profit community initiative brought seniors and adults with disabilities together for a free Christmas dinner.

Guests enjoyed a warm meal, friendly conversation, and a welcoming atmosphere. More than just a dinner, the gathering offered a sense of belonging and reminds attendees that they are an important part of the Chatham-Kent community, organizers said.

This free dinner was planned for 60 adults, but 75 showed up and received a meal.

The event is made possible thanks to the support and partnership of the Chatham-Kent Community Foundation grant through the Blenheim United Church.
