Resisting arrest

A Chatham-Kent man has a lot to answer for following several broken laws recently.

Police were notified Saturday that someone had stolen a wallet from a parked vehicle at a residence on Wallace Street, and that a credit card had been used to purchase fuel at a gas station on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Officers visited the gas station, reviewed surveillance footage, and identified their suspect. They went back to the gas bar and saw the same guy try to use the card again, police say.

The officers went to arrest their suspect, but police say he resisted and tried to flee.

He didn’t get far.

A search of the man revealed the victim’s wallet, police say.

As a result, a 36-year-old Chatham-Kent man is charged with theft, possession of stolen property, theft and unauthorized use of a credit card, and resisting a peace officer.
