A Blenheim man is facing a slew of charges after police say someone pointed a handgun at other motorists Friday morning.
Police got the call shortly before 9:30 a.m. for a report of a man driving dangerously on Communication Road while waving and pointing a handgun.
Officers responded and located the vehicle on Communication Road near Fairview Line. Police say the driver tried to flee, but the officers performed a high-risk traffic stop.
It took a couple of minutes of verbal cajoling, but the driver eventually exited the vehicle. Officers discovered a Glock-style BB gun.
Once the suspect was dropped off at police headquarters, police say he became combative and even spat on an officer.
A Blenheim man, 20, is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to comply, assaulting a peace officer, mischief, theft (related to a separate incident) and possession of stolen property.
