Assault with some kind of a weapon

A Chatham man faces charges after a late-night scrap in Chatham.

On Wednesday shortly before 1 a.m., police were called to a residence on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham.

According to police, investigation revealed that the argument had occurred between two individuals, a 21-year-old male accused and a 21-year-old male victim, both from Chatham. During the dispute, the accused retrieved a weapon and attempted to assault the victim, who was uninjured, police say.

No word from police on whether the “weapon” was a slipper, butter knife, table leg, toaster, chair, sword or anything in between.

The accused is charged with assault with a mysterious weapon and possession of a mysterious weapon for a dangerous purpose. OK, we added in the “mysterious,” but we’d love to tell you more, except, we have no additional information.

Assaulting behavior

A Chatham woman is up on charges in the wake of an incident at a residence on Wellington Street West in Chatham.

Police were called Wednesday evening, shortly before 8 p.m., to the resident over a complaint of property damage.

Police say a woman was seen by the complainant breaking several items on the property, and when confronted, she pushed the complainant to the ground before fleeing on foot.

Police located the suspect and made the arrest.

A Chatham woman, 35, is charged with mischief and assault.
