Deep dive into ‘1917’ on Nov. 4

Local history buffs will be flocking to the Chatham Airport Nov. 4.

Andy Robertshaw will provide a view into the filming of the movie “1917.

Robertshaw served as a historical advisor for the $90-million film, which was released in 2019.

The talk begins at 7:10 p.m. in Hanger 6 at the airport. Prior to that, there will be a tour of Second World War aircraft housed in the hanger beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are by RSVP and will be sold via E-transfer, or cash at the door on Nov. 4.

Robertshaw serves as an Honorary Lecturer at the University College of London and regularly acts as a consultant for the British Army on historical matters. He’s a former curator of the Royal Army Museum and has also served as a forensic trauma specialist for the Norwegian Army.

Robertshaw lectures regularly in the UK, Canada and has worked on the Advisory Board of the National Museum of the Royal Navy.

The evening is being co-hosted by Timmerman’s Legend of Flight, Blenheim Military Museum and Canadian Great War Society.
