Tuesday Chatham-Kent police briefs

In under 72 hours, Chatham-Kent police laid charges in connection to three incidents of intimate partner violence and three of impaired driving.

And one of the two overlapped.

On Monday morning, about 7:40 a.m., officers were picking up a man off the roadway after he fell off his motorcycle, according to police.

The incident took place on Little Street in Wheatley. Police responded to a disturbance call and learned a man and his ex were arguing, when it escalated to threats.

Police say the man tried to flee on his motorcycle, but the booze in his system kicked in and he fell off the bike.

A 45-year-old Wheatley man is charged with uttering threats, impaired, refusing to provide a breath sample, assaulting a police officer, and several Highway Traffic Act violations.

A fight over hockey cards led to charges between a woman and a teenaged male Monday afternoon.

Police were called to a Merritt address about 3:10 p.m. Officers learned the dispute over the hockey cards got physical.

A 20-year-old Chatham woman and a 17-year-old Chatham man were both charged with assault.

A Dresden man faces charges after police allege he assaulted a pregnant woman early Sunday morning.

The incident took place about 3:30 a.m. on West Court in Wallaceburg. Officers arrived on the scene and found the pregnant woman upset and saying she was in medical distress.

According to police, the woman opened the door to her apartment and a man grabbed her, threw her to the ground and began assaulting her.

She managed to crawl back inside and call for help.

Officers located their suspect, a 28-year-old Dresden man, and charged him with assault causing bodily harm.

A local man faces charges for threatening others and being where he was not wanted on Sunday morning.

Shortly before 6 a.m., police got the call to attend an address on Sheldon Avenue in Chatham. Officers located a man inside the residence and believe he was under the influence of a controlled substance.

The female resident said the man was not supposed to be there, while two witnesses told police they had been threatened by the man.

A 23-year-old Chatham-Kent man is charged with unlawfully being in a dwelling and uttering threats.

Poor and possibly pour decisions led to police charging a Chatham man with impaired E-biking.

Officers found a man on the ground in a parking lot on St. Clair Street in Chatham early Sunday morning just north of McNaughton Avenue.

Police say the man was sitting on the ground with visible injuries and the E-bike laying on its side nearby.

Police say the man was showing signs of impairment as paramedics took a look at him.

The officers pieced together what happened. Police say the man was drinking at a nearby watering hole, drove his E-bike through the parking lot when the curb apparently jumped out in front of him, knocking him off the vehicle.

A 45-year-old Chatham man is charged with impaired driving.

And on Tuesday morning, about 2:10 a.m., police pulled over a vehicle on Raleigh Street in Chatham, suspecting the driver had been drinking.

A 46-year-old Chatham woman is charged with impaired.
