Arrest…eventually

A Wallaceburg an faces half a dozen charges after police say he just refused to comply with his release conditions.

The courts placed a 23-year-old Wallaceburg man under a release order back on April 5, 2024 that prohibited him from possessing or using cell phones or electronic devices with Internet access unless required for work purposes.

However, despite this order, police say the man used devices to communicate with witnesses and to access the Internet. He was seen using the prohibited communication methods and accessing the Internet multiple times, police say, in 2024 and 2025.

As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

That warrant popped up on the computer at the Bluewater Bridge in Sarnia on Monday evening. Police say Canadian Border Services personnel took the man into custody and handed over to Chatham-Kent police.

He’s charged with six counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Drugged up?

A Wallaceburg man faces drug trafficking and impaired driving charges after being pulled over early Monday morning on Arnold Street in Wallaceburg.

Police pulled a vehicle over for a traffic stop shortly after 2:30 a.m. Monday and officers believed the driver was impaired.

During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered drug paraphernalia, police say.

A 36-year-old Wallaceburg man is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and being impaired by drug.

 Vehicle rummaged, man charged

A Blenheim man faces charges after someone went searching through another man’s vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

Police got the call just before 3 p.m. from a resident of Chatham Street South in the South Kent community.

The 63-year-old complainant said he spotted someone going through his vehicle. The vehicle owner confronted the man and saw he was in possession of items belonging to the victim.

Officers found the suspect and made the arrest.

A 43-year-old Blenheim man is charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

Intimate partner violence

In the wake of a domestic argument that turned ugly, a man faces multiple charges.

Police say the incident took place about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday evening in Chatham. A Wallaceburg woman and the accused were arguing, police say, when things got violent.

The man fled before police arrived on scene, however officers searched the area and tracked him down.

A 35-year-old man is charged with assault with a weapon, assault and uttering threats.
