The East Kent Hot Rods for Hospice is just around the corner.
The third annual fundraising event hosted by the Ridge Runners East Kent Car Club takes place Sept. 20, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University of Guelph’s Ridgetown Campus.
The Hot Rods for Hospice combines several activities – a vehicle show featuring about 400 new and classic cars, trucks, tractors, and motorcycles; musical entertainment; vendors; children’s activities; food; and soapbox derby races.
There will also be three draws, as tickets are available in advance of the event date.
Tickets for the 50/50 draw are available at Mittons Jewellers and the Ridgetown Independent News during regular business hours and on Wednesday nights at the Ridgetown Arena for the Ridge Runners’ weekly Cars ‘N Coffee, from 6 p.m. to dusk. Tickets are $5 for one, $10 for three. Last year’s winner’s share was more than $9,000.
There is also a draw for an MGS guitar, as tickets are $10 (400 being sold) and are available in advance at Strings N Things, 542 Grand Ave. E., in Chatham, and at Tony’s One Stop Music, 83 Centre St., in Chatham.
The third draw is for a quilt, made and donated by Crystal McTavish. Tickets are $5 and are available in advance at Mitton’s Jewellers and Grand Retirement Village, located at 233 Ursuline Ave. in Chatham.
The draws will all take place on Sept. 20, but you do not have to be present to win.
This year’s live entertainment will be provided by For the Love of Elvis, from 10-11 a.m., and Kilowatt Annie, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
More than 60 vendors will set up shop inside the Rudy Brown Development Centre.
For the vehicle show, the fee is $10, and pre-registration is recommended.
Ridgetown Home Hardware is sponsoring the kids’ activities, which include the Tilbury Auto Mall Hot Wheels Race Track, the Chatham-Kent Public Library Story Walk, Play Rangers, and many other fun activities for the young ones.
Admission is free, but attendees are encouraged to donate to the Chatham-Kent Hospice upon entry.
The event has raised $61,779.56 in its first two years for the Chatham-Kent Hospice.
