Friday Chatham-Kent police briefs

Driveway assault

It began as an incident of road rage and ended up in fisticuffs in a St. Clair Road driveway north of Chatham on Thursday afternoon.

Police got the call about 1:30 p.m.

Apparently, a Windsor man didn’t take too kindly to the driving habits of a Chatham senior citizen.

The road rage wound up in the driveway, where police say the younger Windsor man assaulted the 74-year-old Chatham man.

The victim had to be treated by EMS personnel.

A 30-year-old Windsor man is charged with assault.

She didn’t listen

A Wallaceburg women faces multiple charges after police say she went where she wasn’t supposed to Thursday afternoon.

According to police, they were called about 1:15 p.m. to a Wallaceburg residence.

The suspect, police say, was previously released on conditions to not go to this address or have contact with certain people there. However, guess where she was?

Police say the woman was captured on video surveillance approaching a residence and “engaging in behaviours that violated her conditions.”

The individual also confronted the complainant, which led to the assault.

A 43-year-old Wallaceburg woman, who apparently thinks release conditions are mere guidelines rather than legal documents, faces one charge of assault and two counts of failing to comply.

Two nailed for chatting

A Chatham man and a Whitby woman are on the wrong side of the law for communicating with one another recently, police say.

Officers learned the two had a history of intimate partner violence and were under court-imposed orders to have nothing to do with one another.

However…

Police received a report of unwanted communication Thursday afternoon. Officers investigated and believed the two were back in contact.

A 32-year-old Chatham man is charged with failing to comply with an undertaking, while a 42-year-old Whitby woman is charged with facilitating a breach.

Chatham-Kent police filled in Durham Regional Police with all the details.
