No way to treat a woman

A Chatham-Kent man faces charges after he allegedly knocked a woman 10 years his senior to the ground and choked her.

Police were called about 10:20 p.m. to a Chatham address Thursday. Officers learned that an argument turned ugly when the man assaulted the woman, causing her to lose her balance and fall to the ground, police say.

The accused then attempted to choke her, according to police.

She was able to break free and get away. Police say she received medical treatment and suffered minor injuries during the scuffle.

The suspect was arrested later that day. A  42-year-old man is charged with assault causing bodily harm.

B&E in Dresden

A Dresden man has to answer to break-in charges following an incident early Thursday morning in Dresden.

Police were called about 5:45 a.m. Thursday morning over a report of a break-and-enter at a North Street residence in Dresden.

According to the homeowner, he saw someone breaking into his home through live video surveillance. Police say the suspect got in through a basement window. He then rummaged through various rooms of the house.

Police arrived, but the suspect had left by that point. However, the officers obtained the surveillance images and that helped them identify their suspect.

As a result, later that day, a 41-year-old Dresden man is charged with breaking and entering and committing theft. Police say the suspect was also wanted for previously failing to comply with his release order conditions related to an earlier incident.
