Butt to the face

Two women face charges after one allegedly put out her cigarette on the other’s face, while the second person used bear spray on the first.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the scene about 1:10 p.m. Tuesday afternoon to a residence in Chatham.

The altercation between the two women took a strange and violent turn when the older of the two extinguished her cigarette on the younger woman’s face, police say.

That’s when the younger of the two retaliated with bear spray, according to police.

As a result of the investigation, both individuals were arrested and charged.

A 34-year-old Chatham woman is charged with assault with a weapon and administering a noxious substance.

A 55-year-old woman faces assault with a weapon charges.

Threats, mischief

A Chatham man faces charges in a case of intimate partner violence, police say.

On Tuesday afternoon, shortly before 3 p.m., police were called to a Chatham residence after a man allegedly showed up uninvited to the women’s home. The two were involved in an on-again, off-again relationship, police say.

The investigating officers spotted damage to the woman’s vehicle and viewed several threatening text messages.

A 37-year-old Chatham man is charged with uttering threats and mischief.
